What is General Dentistry?

A man smiling after receiving general dentistry work in South Carolina

In its purest form, dentistry is about prevention and problem-solving. Through regular dental hygiene visits, our highly skilled South Carolina dentists can diagnose and treat any oral health problems, such as cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer before they become more extensive health issues.

During your appointments, our friendly hygienists will remove any plaque and bacteria that erode your enamel and weaken your teeth. We also pay close attention to your gums and look for any symptoms of gum disease. Bleeding gums is a sign of gum disease, which can be a serious health issue. People with gum disease are at a dramatically increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.

General dentistry can help! We can keep your smile pristine with the following services:

Dental Hygiene

We believe in a preventative and comprehensive approach to your family’s dental health. Keeping your and your family’s smiles healthy isn’t just our job; it’s our passion. Why? Because a healthier smile means a healthier you, and a more beautiful smile means a more confident you!

During your hygiene cleanings, our hygienists will not only make sure you have a clean, healthy smile; they will explain everything as they go and make sure you understand what is going on with your smile. Educating you on how to keep your smile healthy is just as important as us cleaning it for you.

Tooth Extractions

We know that having a tooth extracted is not on the top of your to-do list. But sometimes, it’s necessary to keep your mouth healthy or to prepare your smile for orthodontics.

Whatever the reason for your extraction, our doctors and staff are here to help make the process pain-free and anxiety-free for you. With our tools, training, and state-of-the-art technology, it is not uncommon for our patients to tell us they didn’t even feel the tooth being removed. Of course, we are always available to address any follow-up questions or concerns after your procedure.

Root Canal Therapy

We know…you hate the mere sound of this procedure! And we completely understand. Why? Because more than likely you heard a horror story from your great uncle about the time he had a root canal back in 1967. Or maybe, you were the one with a bad root canal experience.

Either way, let us ease your mind by letting you know that our state-of-the-art technology and equipment allows us to perform root canals pain-free and in less than half the time it used to take.

Contrary to popular belief, root canals can actually be your best friend! Why? Because root canals are often your last option before having to extract the tooth. Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. To save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay are removed, and the resulting space is filled with special, medicated, dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function.

Love your smile. Love your experience.

Our doctors and amazing team have the knowledge and skills to keep your smile healthy and functional.
